Adventure Happens

So I wanted an adventure… a change of scenery… a fresh start.

I took a chance and sped off 400 miles away from my comfort zone.

With my goals in mind, and dreams in hand; I drove on.

But I forgot…

This is an adventure.  All the best planning in the world can’t stop adventure.

It seemed so simple, at least so I assured myself.  All I had to do was move everything I own, find somewhere to live, put on my best suit, and ace the interview.

Well, so I thought.

As it turns out, my adventure had a different route in mind and had no intention of cluing me in.

So I ironed my suit and sped off to my interview.

Queue emails, text messages, and an endless game of phone tag.

As it turned out (weeks later), I didn’t get the job.

It was okay…maybe not at first… but my adventure continued on.

Queue desperation, panic, depleting bank accounts, and possible identity theft.

But then.

My adventure surprised me once again.

I’ll be the first to tell you that coffee is a Godsent. Buried within that cup of divine nectar, I found a job.

Yep. You read it. I’m not a high rolling advertising exec with a 401 (k) and a endless supply of top-shelf whiskey. I’m the girl who comes home smelling like a vanilla latté with a pocket full of someone’s spare change and a smile on my face.

I took a leap towards something new and found myself traveling in a different direction.

Despite the dramatic change of direction, I got exactly what I asked for.

An adventure.

You can plan all you like, taking all the steps to make sure you end up where you think you should.

But then…

Adventure happens.

Be prepared, and keep an open mind. You never know where you will end up if you are brave enough to go along for the ride.
